BCI’s Operation Snowflake Spotlights Washington D.C.’s Homeless in Distress

Over the past ten days, (which seems more like a political decade already), the national spotlight has shone brightly on the crowds of people from across the nation marching on the streets of our capital city, Washington D.C. The focuses of these marches swing between celebrations and disparagement of the actions taken by our new administration led by now-President Donald J. Trump.

The people of Washington D.C. seem to take the onslaught of hundreds of thousands of people descending upon their city, with little notice in some cases, in stride. At the same time, homelessness in D.C. is trending upward, while decreasing in every other major metropolitan area in the U.S.—up by more than 45 percent over the last eight years and rising by 16 percent in 2016 alone.

Unlike the new administration and the national media, Borderless Charity Inc. (BCI) is focusing, not on the politics of our nation’s capital, but instead on the needs of the people in the shadows. We have undertaken a cause to do what is in our power to help relieve some of the discomfort and hopelessness of the D.C. homeless through a campaign we have named “Operation Snowflake.”

A contingent from BCI will travel to the Mall in D.C. on the weekend of February 11 to distribute care-bags assembled to provide some temporary relief with basic needs and to demonstrate that this homeless contingent of our population are not forgotten amongst the chaos that has befallen the streets of our nation’s capital.  Won’t you join us in shining the spotlight on this group by making a donation?
